  • Full Day Colonia City Sightseeing Tickets, Gray Line Argentina, Buenos Aires
The atmosphere of the historic Uruguayan town of Colonia del Sacramento is a universe apart from the hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires. Just a short boat-ride across the Ro de la Plata, Colonia del Sacramento is a popular day-trip or weekend destination among Buenos Aires locals (Porteos).

A visit here offers an exploratory introduction to Argentinas small neighbor through an enticing blend of colonial history, museums and laid-back ambiance.

Although Portugal officially ceded Nova Colnia do Sacramento (founded in 1680 by Manoel Lobo) to Spain in 1750, its Portuguese settlers resisted. The Spanish Viceroyalty took possession only in 1777, destroying part of the town in the process. Meanwhile, Colonia was established as a prime smuggling center, exploited primarily by the British while the Spanish were busy building up the strength and size of their colony in Buenos Aires. A stop was put to this when Uruguay was created in 1828, as a buffer state between Argentina and Brazil, both of whom wanted its territory.

Colonia enjoys a superb location 180km west of Montevideo, perched atop a small peninsula jutting out into the great expanse of the Ro de la Plata, standing opposite Buenos Aires. Warm light reflects from its bronze waters creating an effect especially impressive at dusk and only further enhancing the towns remarkable beauty.

While its detractors complain that Colonia has been over-restored or that this once sleepy old town is now merely a playground for wealthy Porteos who see it as a suburb of Buenos Aires, it has managed to cling to its rustic charisma thanks to the untainted quality of its classic architecture. Both Colonias old and modern architecture are now protected as UNESCO world heritage sites.

With its immaculate and luxurious parks and gardens, quiet cobbled streets and miles of nearby beaches, Colonia is a relaxing and well-tended place. Colonia isnt sterile like many other "museum towns" around the world.

Enjoy another plus of this beautiful town, the warm welcome of its inhabitants. Uruguayans are among Latin Americas friendliest people.

  • Soccer Stadium Tour Sightseeing Tickets, Gray Line Argentina, Buenos Aires
Boca Juniors was born on Monday April 3rd, 1905 when five young boys living in La Boca neighborhood got together at Solís Square with the intention to found a soccer club.

Without even knowing it, this group of Italian immigrants wrote the first pages of the rich history of Argentina´s most popular soccer club.

The name of the club was taken from that of the neighborhood. The word "Juniors" was added to give it an English tone and enhance its prestige. This was done in order to counteract the “difficult neighborhood” fame La Boca had gained at that time.

During its first years, Boca Juniors wore different shirts that were changed constantly until the well-known classic blue and yellow one was adopted. The first shirt was pink, followed by a vertically striped black and white one. In 1907 both yellow and blue were adopted. These colors were taken from the Swedish flag on a boat which was moored in the port during those days.

Boca Juniors shows a great track record in amateur competitions, wining 7 titles: 1919, 1920, 1923, 1924, 1926, 1930 Championships and the Honour Cup in 1925.

Throughout almost one hundred years of history many players wore the blue and gold shirt. Many of these players ended up as absolute idols in the institution including: Francisco Varallo, Mario Boyé, Angel Clemente Rojas, Antonio Roma, Alfredo Rojas, Antonio Rattín, Vicente Pernía, Hugo Gatti, Silvio Marzolini, Diego Maradona, Gabriel Batistuta, Martín Palermo and Juan Román Riquelme.

Downtown hotel pickup and admission to the soccer stadium are included in the price of this tour.

Attractions and services are non-cancelable. A voucher has no cash value and is non-transferable. No refunds, credits, exchanges, or cancellations of a voucher will be granted once voucher has been issued. Refunds will not be issued for unused or partially used attractions or services.
